Do you want free tickets to arts events around Santa Cruz County?
Do you love meeting new people?
Do you want to support efforts to broaden access to local music, theater, dance, visual art, and cultural events?
If so, then this volunteer opportunity is for you!
What is the Arts & Economic Prosperity study?
Arts Council Santa Cruz has partnered with Americans for the Arts to collect information about the economic impact of the arts in our community. Data helps arts nonprofits fundraise for their programs, and this project collects countywide data that benefits our entire arts ecosystem. Learn more about the Arts & Economic Prosperity study nationwide here.
We completed our last Arts & Economic Prosperity study in 2014. Since then, we’ve invested deeply in the arts, and our local economy has undergone significant changes. We’re looking forward to updating these statistics with 2022 data. Volunteers are needed to administer in-person surveys at arts events ranging from music, dance, and theater performances to visual art openings between May 1, 2022 and May 1, 2023.
What is the role of volunteers?
Enthusiastic arts supporters are needed to go to these events (for free!), make contact with other attendees, and help them fill out the surveys either on paper or on their phones using a QR code. You won’t have to collate any data, there’s no set up or clean-up, and you’ll only survey folks before events or during intermissions. You just have to be friendly and willing to approach other art lovers!
Interested in volunteering?
You’ll need to attend one training over Zoom before you start, which we’ll schedule soon. Then, as survey volunteer opportunities come up you’ll receive emails with the details and how to sign up. You can survey as often as you’d like over the course of the year of the study. A few special prizes will be awarded to the three volunteers who collect the most surveys!
