When the Santa Cruz County Alliance for Arts Education launched in 2012, Pajaro Valley Unified School District (PVUSD) had an arts plan in place, but had never fully implemented it. Among its 17 elementary schools there was only one .2 Full Time Equivalent visual arts teacher. The Alliance worked closely with the school district to help garner support for arts education expansion. Ultimately, in 2014, PVUSD increased funding to the arts to over $1.3 million to hire 20 VAPA specialists, and in 2015, they expanded funding to $2.8 million. A wonderful success for kids, PVUSD and the Alliance! Read more here.
