Through her enhanced River of Words curriculum, Linda Cover has taught watershed science, art & poetry in our community schools for over 10 years, encouraging her students to create many award-winning works. Linda Cover is also the recipient of the 2007 River of Words: "Teacher of the Year", Su Job Award for Education 2014, and she is the founder/director of Camp Tannery Arts.

Scientific Drawing
Using reference materials and live botanicals, students create art of local watershed animals in their habitats.
State Standards Addressed: Life Science, Ecology, Environmental Science, Visual Arts, Social Sciences.
Grade: K-12
Residency: 8-12 Workshops, 1-1.5 hours each

Mapmaking
Students learn their local watershed, the plants, animals, landmarks, waterways and their school and home.

Poetry
Poetry writing: From nature based poetry, students learn to build word banks, play word games and finally create their own original poems
